Li-Fi (light fidelity) based on LED or laser has much higher data transfer speeds than Wi-Fi, 2014 Nobel Prize in Physics recipient Shuji Nakamura said in a keynote speech in Taipei recently.

Li-Fi based on LED light and laser can reach transfer speeds 10 times and 100-1,000 times, respectively, those for Wi-Fi, Nakamura said. For example, it takes only a second for laser-based Li-Fi to transfer 100GB of data.
