Since its inception 25 years ago, UC Santa Barbara’s Solid State Lighting and Energy Electronics Center (SSLEEC) has generated leading-edge gallium nitride (GaN) research through sustained collaborations. Breakthrough advancements include a ten-fold increase in LED efficiency, the development of MicroLEDs, and novel applications in high-electron-mobility transistors.
