Distinguished Professor, Electrical & Computer Engineering
Daniel Blumenthal is a Distinguished Professor in the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department at UCSB, Director of the Terabit Optical Ethernet Center (TOEC) and heads the Optical Communications and Photonics Integration (OCPI). His research is in silicon nitride photonics and optical packet switching.

In July 2009, he was appointed to the Fred Kavli Chair in Nanotechnology. Professor Bowers' research interests are in energy efficiency and in the development of novel optoelectronic devices for the next generation of optical networks.

Development Engineer
Development Engineer with over 30 years experience in Semiconductor Industry and Research (including experience in SEM, FIB, MBE, HVPE, and MOCVD). Responsible for lab equipment management, working with Facilities to design new laboratories and upgrade lab spaces, and working with UCSB Environmental Health and Safety and the County Fire Marshal to comply with all safety regulations for research facilities.

Dr. Hsun-Ming Chang is a postdoctoral researcher in the Materials Department at UCSB. He works on laser diodes/LEDs on strain relaxed InGaN/AlGaN, and the development of InGaN green laser diodes. His activity involves device fabrication, simulation and design of laser diodes, laser testing, MOCVD growth and material characterization.

Srabanti Chowdhury is an associate professor of Electrical Engineering (EE) and a Senior Fellow of Precourt Institute at Stanford. She leads the Widebandgap Lab at Stanford where her research focuses on the wideband gap (WBG) and ultra-wide bandgap (UWBG) materials and device engineering for energy-efficient and compact system architecture for electronics including power RF and computation applications.

Research Advisor
Research Advisor with several decades of experience inventing and developing InP and GaN based laser diodes and photonic integrated circuits for communication, biochemical sensing, data storage, solid state lighting, displays and LIDAR. Expertise includes device design, fabrication, testing and analysis. Recent projects have included high power and high efficiency lasers, VCSELs, and ultraviolet lasers.

Pasquale Ferrari is a Senior Licensing Officer for the Office of Technology & Industry Alliances (“TIA”) at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he manages the university's intellectual property portfolio in materials, electronics, and other physical sciences. As Sr. Licensing Officer, Mr. Ferrari is directly responsible for negotiating license agreements for UCSB's patents and copyrights. Mr. Ferrari joined UCSB in 2023.

Professor & Chair, Chemical Engineering
Dr. Gordon focuses research on synthesis and characterization of nanoscale materials as well as the development of scanning probe microscopy (SPM) methods for optical, electrical, and mechanical interrogation of nanoscale systems found in different venues such as material science, microelectronics, catalysis, and biology. His current interests include: III-nitride nanostructures, micro/nano-LEDs.
